目前，全球的生物多样性正处于危机之中。风景园林师们有着前所未有的机遇和不可推卸的责任，去运用我们的技能和知识，减少对现有生物多样性的损害，同时寻找机会去恢复或重建生物多样性。绿色城市运动和绿色基础设施概念的提出为我们创造了大量的机会和挑战，假如把生物多样性比作一座图书馆，我们需要保护我们已有的书籍，同时还要写下更多的书，为后代将要面对的挑战打下基础。
